How to Get Your Nigerian NIN From the UK in 2025

You do not need to travel to Nigeria. As a licensed NIMC diaspora enrolment partner, NINBVN.org handles full NIN enrolment in the UK — from biometric capture to NIN issuance. Here's exactly how it works.

What is a Nigerian NIN?

Your National Identity Number (NIN) is an 11-digit unique identifier issued by the National Identity Management Commission (NIMC). It is permanent, lifelong, and cannot be reassigned. It links your fingerprints and facial photograph to your personal record in Nigeria's national identity database.

Your NIN is now required for virtually every major transaction in Nigeria — passport applications, banking, SIM registration, JAMB, NYSC, driver's licence, voter registration and more.

Can I Get My NIN From the UK?

Yes — and you don't need to travel to Nigeria at any point. NINBVN.org is an officially licensed NIMC enrolment partner via FUWA Agribusiness, authorised to capture diaspora NIN applications across England, Scotland, Wales and Germany.

NINBVN.org is NIMC-licensed

  • We use NIMC-approved biometric equipment
  • Data is transmitted directly and securely to the NIMC national database
  • Your NIN is issued by NIMC — not NINBVN.org — and carries full official validity

Documents You Need

Bring originals only — photocopies are not accepted. Our officer scans and returns them immediately.

  • Nigerian International Passport (valid or expired)
  • Nigerian Birth Certificate (NPC-issued)
  • Authentication / Attestation Letter from the Nigerian Embassy or High Commission
  • BVN — optional but strongly recommended to avoid delays

⚠️ Tips

  • Wear a bright-coloured top — your NIN photo is taken on the day
  • Bring a self-addressed envelope if you want your NIN slip posted to you
  • Contact us before your appointment if you're unsure about any document

Step 1: Complete NIMC Pre-Enrolment Online

Before attending your appointment, visit penrol.nimc.gov.ng and complete the pre-enrolment form. All fields must be accurate — check your date of birth, name spelling and contact details carefully, as errors here end up on your NIN record.

Print your pre-enrolment slip and bring it to your appointment — it contains a 2D barcode our officer scans on the day. If you can't complete pre-enrolment online, our team can assist you when you arrive.

Step 2: Book Your Appointment

Call or WhatsApp +447450 444858 at least 24 hours in advance to reserve your slot at your nearest centre. Walk-ins are not guaranteed. If you're bringing family members, let us know how many people are coming so we can allow the right time.

Step 3: Attend Your Appointment

Arrive a few minutes early. Our officer will verify your documents, scan them, and confirm your pre-enrolment data before biometric capture begins. The capture itself — fingerprints and facial photograph — takes approximately 15–30 minutes.

After capture, you receive a Transaction ID Slip as confirmation. Keep this safe — you'll need it to follow up if your NIN doesn't arrive.

Step 4: Receive Your NIN

NIMC sends your NIN via SMS to the mobile number registered during enrolment — usually within a few working days. Your NIN slip may be issued on the day or within the same timeframe.

If you opted for a NIN PVC card, delivery takes approximately 10 working days.
